A special Doramadalawa TV Programme on “Empathy and Communication” was telecasted on the 04^th October 2021 at 10.30 pm onwards on Independent Television Network (ITN).

Dr. Hasantha Hettiarachchi from ITN conducted the program and the following academics  joined the program as resource persons: 

• Buddhism and NVC by Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abayathissa (Professor at the Pali – Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Jayawardenapura).
• What is Communication by Prof. Chandrasiri Rajapaksha (Emeritus Professor – Department of Mass Communication – Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya).
• Hate Speech and Social Issues by Senior Prof. D.A. Premakumara de Silva (Department of Sociology – Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo). 
• Understanding the importance of Psychology and Communication by Dr. Lakshika Liyanage (Senior Lecturer – Department of Social Sciences, Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities).

This programme was organized by the Department of Social Sciences under the project on Promoting Nonviolent Communication and Responsible Use of Media with funding from UNDP and the European Union.
