Screening of Akira Kurasawa’s masterpiece ‘Rashomon’ for intake 39 Social Sciences students took place on 1st April 2022 at FMSH – faculty premises. The screening was followed by a discussion conducted by Mr. Indika de Silva – Lecturer at the Department of Information Technology, KDU.
The event was organized to facilitate additional learning related to Media and Communication among Social Sciences undergraduates. During the discussion, Mr. Indika de Silva explained the filmmaking techniques of Kurosawa and their influences to world cinema, the ‘Rashomon effect’, the roots of the movie plot and its influence to Sri Lankan Drama and Theatre. The head of the Department of Social Sciences Mr. Nuwan Herath also participated in the discussion.
