“Impact of Globalization on Economic Linkage towards Asian Ideology – Special Reference to Sri Lanka” by Professor M.G. Kularatne

The first lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2022/23 was delivered by Professor MG Kularatne on “Impact of Globalization on Economic Linkage towards Asian Ideology – Special Reference to Sri Lanka” the on 11th October 2022 from 1500 to 1630 via Zoom. 

Professor MG Kularatne is a senior lecturer at the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Kelaniya. He holds a BA (Honors) in Economics from the University of Peradeniya, a MSc in Socio-economic Information for Natural Resources Management from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC) in the Netherlands and a PhD in Environmental Economics from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia. 

Professor Kularatne’s research work is mainly focused on efficiency and productivity analyses of the use of natural resources, development issues, education, and solid waste management. In addition to being an academic at the University of Kelaniya he also works as a Research Supervisor, University Representative, Economist, Social Development Expert and Social Impact Assessment Consultant in many important national and international projects. 

The course is organized for the 3rd consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and will be held from October 2022 to February 2023 for a selected group of undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
