Dr. (Mrs.) Tamara Jayasundera, Senior Lecturer (Grade I) of the Department of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) assumed duties as the Head of the Department of Social Sciences on 12th of September 2023.
She joined KDU as a Senior Lecturer (Grade I) in Economics to the Department of Social Sciences in 2021. Prior to that, she contributed to the Department as a Visiting Lecturer in Economics. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (JMSH). She has provided her services as a consultant to several institutes such as the Institute of Health Policy (Sri Lanka), Verite Research (Sri Lanka), and Economics Modelling LLC, Idaho, USA.
Dr. Tamara Jayasundera completed her BA Degree in Economics with a first class from the University of Peradeniya. She subsequently, obtained her MA and PhD in Economics from American University, Washington DC. She is well published in areas of education policy, intergenerational transmission of education, gender economics, labor economics, and health economics.
