The Second Lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2023/24

The second lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” for the academic year 2023/24 was presented by Senior Professor Anoma Abayarathna. Her lecture, titled ‘Regional Integration and Economic Cooperation in Asia’ took place on October 10th, 2023, from 1500 to 1640 via Zoom. 

Professor Abayarathna is a Senior Professor in Economics at the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, with many years of experience in university level teaching and research both locally and internationally. She has held positions such as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Peradeniya, Visiting Professor at the University of Rouen in France, Visiting Professor at the University of Brasov in Romania, Visiting Professor at the South Asia University in India, and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Essex in the UK and at the University Malaya in Malaysia. Professor Abayarathna holds a PhD and a MA from the University of Essex, UK, and an MPhil and a BA (honors) from the University of Peradeniya. 

The course is organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a generous research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan. This course is scheduled to run from October 2023 to March 2024, catering to a select group of undergraduate students in intake 40, representing diverse faculties within KDU.
