A Lecture on “A New Community Beyond the Nation State” by Professor Joon-Kon Chung of the Eurasia Foundation, Japan

The thirteenth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2021/22 was delivered by Professor Joon-Kon Chung on “A New Community Beyond the Nation State” on 17th February 2022 from 1500 to 1635 hours.

Professor Joon-Kon Chung is a Senior Researcher at the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan, the organization which very generously awarded KDU the grant which has made the above Short Course a reality. In addition to this, he is an Adjunct Professor at the prestigious Meiji University in Japan.

Professor Chung holds a PhD in Political Science from the Meiji University, is affiliated to the International Asian Community Studies Society and has delivered lectures similar to this in a number of countries across the globe. His main research interests include Comparative Politics, East Asian Politics and the Asian Community.

The lecture was held virtually via Zoom and was graced by Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga, the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities of KDU who delivered the welcome address.

The Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2021/22is organized for the second consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and is held from October 2021 to February 2022 for a selected group of about 150 undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
