A Lecture on "Asian Political Landscape: The Role of Religions in Post Independent India and Sri Lanka" by Hon. Dr. Suren Raghavan

The 12th lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2021/22 was delivered by Hon. Dr. Suren Raghavan on “Asian Political Landscape: The Role of Religions in Post Independent India and Sri Lanka” on 15th February 2022 from 1500 to 1635 hours via Zoom.

Dr. Suren Raghavan is a Sri Lankan academic and a former governor of the Northern Province. He is an Analytical Researcher with a passion to empower student teaching. His PhD and Master studies were in Comparative Politics and the role of Religion in Peacebuilding withMulticultural Societies. Dr. Raghavan is a research fellow at Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies – University of Oxford. Dr. Raghavan was a visiting professor at Saint Paul University, and a visiting research scholar at the Department of History, University of Colombo. He is also the chairperson and national director of Colombo School for Critical Studies. Following the 2020 parliamentary election, he was invited to the Parliament of Sri Lanka as a National List MP representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

The course is organized for the second consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and is held from October 2021 to February 2022 for a selected group of about 150 undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
