A Lecture on “The English Language for Cultural Linkages Towards an Asian Ideology and Beyond” by Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga

The fifth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” was delivered by Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga on The English Language for Cultural Linkages Towards an ‘Asian Ideology’ and Beyond on 18th October 2021 from 1500 to 1635 via Zoom. 

Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga is the Dean, Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages. He is a senior academic in the field of English language and literature with over 35 years of experience in teaching at various levels and over 17 years of experience in university administration. 

Mr. Amaratunga holds a MPhil in English from the University of Kelaniya, a MA in Linguistics (Merit) from University of Kelaniya, and a BA (Special) in English with second class honours from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. 

The course is organised for a second consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan. It is being held from October 2021 to February 2022 for a selected group of about 150 undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
