A Lecture on “The Impact of Globalization on Less Developed Countries (Special Reference to Asia)” by Professor M.G. Kularathne (Professor in Economics, University of Kelaniya)
The third lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” was delivered by Professor MG Kularatne on the “The Impact of Globalization on Less Developed Countries (Special reference to Asia)” on 10th November 2020 from 1500 to 1630 via Zoom.
Professor MG Kularatne is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Kelaniya. He holds a BA (Honors) in Economics from the University of Peradeniya, an MSc in Socio-economic Information for Natural Resources Management from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC) in the Netherlands and a PhD in Environmental Economics from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia.
Professor Kularatne’s research work is mainly focused on efficiency and productivity analyses of the use of natural resources, development issues, education and solid waste management. In addition to being an academic at the University of Kelaniya, he also works as a Research Supervisor, University Representative, Economist, Social Development Expert and Social Impact Assessment Consultant in many important national and international projects.
The course is organised by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and is held from 27th October 2020 to 10th February 2021 for a selected group of undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
