A Lecture on "The Influence of Buddhism on Asian Culture" by Venerable Professor Medagoda Abhayatissa Thero
The twelfth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” was delivered by Venerable Professor Medagoda Abhayatissa Thero on “The Influence of Buddhism on Asian Culture” on 29th January 2021 from 1500 to 1635 via Zoom.
Venerable Medagoda Abhayatissa Thero is a Professor in Pali at the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayawardanapura, Sri Lanka.
The Venerable Professor holds a PhD in Buddhist Studies from the University of Delhi, a Master of Philosophy from the University of Kelaniya, a Master of Arts from the University of Kelaniya, a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Pali and a Post Graduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. Our esteemed resource person has many years of experience in lecturing and research and has contributed vastly to the fields of Pali and Buddhist Studies by publishing numerous academic writings.
The course is organized by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and is held from 27th October 2020 to 10th of February 2021 for a selected group of undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
