A Lecture on “The Role of English Language for Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology" by Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga

The eighth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” was delivered by Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga on “The Role of English Language for Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” on 12th January 2021 from 1500 to 1635 via Zoom.
Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga is the current Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages. He is a senior academic engaged in the field of English language and literature for more than 35 years and for more than 17 years in university administration.

Mr. Amaratunga holds an MPhil in English and an MA in Linguistics (Merit) from the University of Kelaniya, and a BA (Hons.) in English from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Further, he has followed the Managing English Language Training (MELT) course and the Advanced English Language Instructor Course (AELIC) at the Defence Language Institute in Texas, USA.

The course is organized by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and is held from 27th October 2020 to 10th of February 2021 for a selected group of undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
