The Department of Social Sciences at KDU launched its first Career Guidance Workshop of 2025 under the theme “Bridging University to the Corporate World,” equipping students of Intake 40 with essential career insights. Held on February 13, 2025, at the 6-2 Lecture Hall, the session focused on leadership skills, and personal development, preparing students to navigate the transition from academia to industry successfully.
This initiative marks the beginning of a series of career-focused programs aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and corporate success.
In collaboration with Ansell Textile Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the workshop featured an engaging session titled “Gateway to the World with Ansell Textile Lanka.” Mr. Madhushan Keerage (Certified Trainer and Head of Talent Management – HR Manager at Ansell Lanka) led the session, supported by Ms. Navoda Kodippila, an HR Executive and a distinguished alumna of the Department.
The interactive discussion encouraged students to reflect on two profound questions: “Who am I?” and “Why do I exist?” Mr. Keerage guided participants in identifying their career passions, preparing for job interviews, and aligning their curriculum vitae with industry standards, all crucial steps before embarking on their internships.
Students from the BSc in Social Sciences, BSc in Logistics Management, and BSc in Management Technical Sciences actively engaged in the workshop, gaining valuable knowledge and networking opportunities.
This session was organized by Ms. Kumuduni Weerasinghe, Internship coordinator of the Department of Social Sciences of the Faculty. Furthermore, Senior Lecturer and Career Advisor of the Faculty, Mr. Lahiru Gunathilaka, the academic supporting staff of the Department of Social Sciences, Ms. Hashini de Silva, Ms. Chanuthi Perera and Mr. Wathsunu Jayathilleka also participated to this insightful event.
