Inauguration Ceremony of the “Certificate Course in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Media” conducted by Department of Social Sciences, FMSH

The inauguration ceremony of the “Certificate Course in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Media” was held virtually on the 7th of August 2021 from 0800 to 0900 hours.

The course was ceremoniously inaugurated with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor K.A.S Dhammika gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The inaugural event was participated by approximately 80 other guests including the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Priyan Seneviratne representing the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Deans of the other Faculties, Directors, Heads of Departments, Senior Academics, Senior Military Officers, the Panel of Lecturers of the Certificate Course, Project Consultants, Project Coordinators, and a diverse group of course participants including undergraduates, police officers, lawyers, engineers and medical officers.

The event was organized by the Department of Social Sciences (FMSH) and supported by the UNDP with funding from the European Union (EU). The certificate course on NVC and Media is the very first of its kind offered in Sri Lanka and includes a series of lectures conducted by a distinguished panel of well-qualified academics. The course will teach authentic and deep communication, increased understanding, and conflict resolution. KDU is grateful to be able to offer this course free of charge, making much needed knowledge and training accessible to all regardless of financial capacity.
