Making of ‘Sahakampana’: A Docudrama by Department of Social Sciences
Film shooting of a Docudrama titled ‘Sahakampana’ under the project on ‘Promoting Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Responsible Use of Media’ was held from 0530 to 2300 hrs. on 30th November 2021. The filming was done in various locations including Faculty of Graduate Studies at KDU, the Kandawala Maha Vidyalaya and Mt. Lavinia Police Station.
Well-known actors such as Mr. Gihan Fernando, Ms. Sangeetha Basnayake, Mr. Mahesh Uyanwatta and Ms. Dinithi Walgamage took on different roles; while film experts including Mr. Sanjaya Nirmal, Mr. Gayan Kosala, and Mr. Striner Mackain Adams played major roles in directing and filming the docudrama.
Also, the active participation of a team of over 40 members comprising Dean – FMSH, Dr. Hemantha Premarathne, HOD – Social Sciences, academic and non -academic staff of KDU; and past and present students of the Department of Social Sciences was instrumental in the successful completion of this effort.
This docudrama is produced by the Department of Social Sciences with funding from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Colombo and the European Union.
