Pre-Departure Program Prepares Japanese Students for Summer Study Tour to Sri Lanka
Building on the success of the inaugural Japanese Student Exchange Program from JF Oberlin University last March, the second iteration is set to take place from August 20th to September 2nd, 2024. This program falls under the Student Exchange Initiative established through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between J.F. Oberlin University and KDU. The tour will be hosted by the Nippon-Lanka Collaboration Centre (NLCC-KDU), which operates under the Department of Social Sciences at Metropolitan Campus – KDU in Colombo.
In anticipation of this exciting journey, a comprehensive pre-departure program was meticulously organized. On July 20th, 2024, from 09:40 to 11:00 hrs, Dr. Hemantha Premarathne, the coordinator of NLCC-KDU, conducted an insightful online session via Zoom. This session aimed to familiarize students with KDU, provide insights into the cultural and academic landscape of Sri Lanka, and outline the detailed itinerary for their upcoming tour.
The coordination of the pre-departure program was expertly managed by Mr. Nobuo Kanda, Officer-in-Charge of the International Program at Shinjuku Campus, J.F. Oberlin University. The event also featured the distinguished participation of Professor Hajime Tozaki from J.F. Oberlin University, further elevating the academic significance of the session.
Students were actively engaged in discussions, gaining valuable insights into the diverse experiences awaiting them in Sri Lanka. Dr. Hemantha Premarathne’s thorough presentation ensured that participants were well-informed and enthusiastic about the upcoming study tour.
