Pre-Departure Programme Prepares Japanese Students for Study Tour to Sri Lanka

In a significant step towards international collaboration and cultural exchange, ten undergraduates from J.F. Oberlin University, Japan, are set to embark on a Study Tour to Sri Lanka. This initiative falls under the Student Exchange Programme established through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between J.F. Oberlin University and KDU. The tour, hosted by the Department of Social Sciences, is scheduled to take place from March 10th to March 23rd, 2024.

In preparation for this exciting journey, a comprehensive pre-departure program was meticulously organized. Dr. Hemantha Premarathne, the program coordinator, hosted an insightful session on the 20th of March 2024 from 09:40 to 11:00 hrs online via Zoom. This virtual session aimed to familiarize the students with KDU, provide insights into the cultural and academic landscape of Sri Lanka, and outline the detailed itinerary for their upcoming tour.

The coordination of this program was expertly overseen by Mr. Nobuo Kanda, Officer-in-charge of the International Programme at Shinjuku Campus, J.F. Oberlin University. Additionally, the event garnered distinguished participation from Professor Hajime Tozaki of J.F. Oberlin University, further enhancing the academic significance of the pre-departure program.

The students were actively engaged in discussions, gaining valuable insights into the diverse experiences awaiting them in Sri Lanka. Dr. Hemantha Premarathne’s thorough presentation ensured that the participants were well-informed and enthusiastic about the upcoming Study Tour.
