The Shihan Bonnie Roberts Cup National Championship was held on 09 April 2022 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo. Hundreds of karate players from all over the island joined in different age groups, different weight categories and different levels. Ten (10) cadets from the Department of Social Sciences participated in the KDU karate team where O/C KMMM Bandara led the team as the vice-captain. The cadets who participated from the Department of Social Sciences were able to achieve great success in the tournament with 6 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. With this win, the Karate team set a new KDU medal record with a total of 56 medals. The event showcased the extraordinary bravery, initiative, leadership, teamwork and talent of the KDU students.
