The Fifth Lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2023/2024
The fifth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” for the academic year 2023/24 was presented by Mr. Nuwan Herath. His lecture, titled “Building an Asian Community: Political Issues and Challenges” took place on October 24th, 2023, from 1500 to 1640 via Zoom.
Mr. Nuwan Herath, senior lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University is currently pursuing his PhD in Anthropology at the University of Kentucky, USA.
He is a senior academic in the field of Social Sciences with many years of experience teaching at university level. Mr. Herath holds a Master of Arts in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in the USA, a Master of Arts in Conflict Peace and Development Studies from the Tribhuvan University in Nepal and a Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Resolution with a first class from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka.
The course is organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a generous research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan. This course is scheduled to run from October 2023 to March 2024, catering to a select group of undergraduate students in intake 40, representing diverse faculties within KDU.
