The Inauguration Ceremony of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2021/2022

The inauguration ceremony of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” 2021/2022 was held virtually on the 8th of October 2021 from 1500 to 1600 hours.

The course was ceremoniously inaugurated with the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The inaugural event was participated by approximately 160 participants including 120 registered students from all faculties. The Guest Speaker Professor Hajime Tozaki of Oberlin University, Japan, Senior Professor Anoma Abayarathne, the first resource person of the course, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Defence and Administration, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Deans of the other Faculties, Directors, Heads of Departments, Senior Academics, Senior Military Officers, the Panel of Resource Persons of the Short Course also participated in the event.

The course is organized by the Department of Social Sciences (FMSH) of KDU under a grant won for the second consecutive year from the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan. It is conducted free of charge for about 150 undergraduates across all faculties of KDU by an eminent panel of local and foreign academics. The course will explore a wide range of areas such as economics, law, politics, language and gender giving its students a holistic understanding of Asia and its culture.
