The 14^th lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology – 2022/23” was delivered by Mr. Sanjaya Nirmal on 14^th February 2023 from 1500 to 1640 via Zoom. The title of the lecture was “The LOTUS: The Deepest, Fundamental, Universal Asian Bond.”

Mr. Sanjaya Nirmal is a well renowned film director who has been the mastermind behind many films, documentaries, stage dramas and teledramas. The film “Swara” (Seven Notes) directed by Mr. Nirmal won the Best Film with a Global Message, Golden Rea Award from Jaipur International Film Festival. His latest creation “Praana,” a Sri Lankan trilingual docu- film was the first film released in Sinhala, English and Tamil languages. He has also published a couple books titled “101 Kamatahan” and “Sarpaya Mareema” that elaborate fascinating lifelong lessons.

The course is organized for the 3^rd consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan and will be held from October 2022 to February 2023 for a selected group of undergraduates representing all Faculties of KDU.
