Third Workshop of the Project on “Promoting Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Responsible Use of Media”
The third workshop of the project, “Promoting Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Responsible Use of Media”, was held on the 22nd of August 2021 via Zoom. Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga – Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) graced the inaugural occasion and delivered the welcome address. The inauguration was also witnessed by other guests, the project coordinators, the resource persons of the workshop, and the staff of the Department of Social Sciences.
Forty (40) young media personnel and Social Sciences students of Intake 38 attended the workshop that comprised of 02 virtual sessions as follows:
Introduction to Nonviolent Communication – Mr. Indika Perera
Contemporary Challenges for Media & Information Literacy (MIL) – Dr. Harinda Vidanage
The workshop was organized by the Department of Social Sciences in the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities and is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with funding from the European Union. The project includes a series of workshops along with other activities such as the establishment of a Centre for Media Studies and the development of an academic programme on Media and Communication Studies.
