Visit of Representatives from Commonwealth Secretariat and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
A team of representatives from the Commonwealth Secretariat and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) visited KDU on September 12th, 2022 to have a discussion on the project on Promoting Nonviolent Communication and Responsible Use of Media at KDU implemented in 2021. The aim of this meeting was to understand the successful achievements of the project and look for future partnerships between KDU, UNDP, and the Commonwealth Secretariat to promote non-violent communication for promoting social cohesion.
Ms. Amy Longland – Programme Officer, Countering Violent Extremism, Governance and Peace Directorate (The Commonwealth Secretariat); Mr. Kulunu Jayamanne – Coordination and Partnerships Associate and Youth Programme Focal Point at UNDP Sri Lanka; and Ms. Ralani Weerasinghe – Learning and Skills Programme Associate at UNDP, participated in the discussion representing the Commonwealth Secretariat and UNDP. Brigadier Wipula Chandarsiri, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration); Mr. WAAK Amaratunga – Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Harinda Vidanage – Head, Department of Strategic Studies; Mr. Nuwan Herath – Head, Department of Social Sciences; and Dr. Tamara Jayasundera – Senior Lecturer (Gr. I), Department of Social Sciences, represented KDU in the discussion.
