The Department of Languages at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University recently hosted the Data Nexus career fair, designed exclusively for final-year undergraduate students in the Applied Data Science Communication programme. Held on April 25th, 2024, at the FGS Auditorium, the event aimed to connect students with leading industry experts and fulfill their degree requirement for internships.

With organizations such as Sampath Bank, Bistec Global Services (Pvt) Ltd, Hashnate, Central Finance Company PLC, Millennium IT ESP, CIC Holdings PLC, Bluechip Technologies Asia, Brandix, and Root Code in attendance, the career fair served as a gateway for students to engage directly with industry leaders. During the event, students had the opportunity to be interviewed by representatives from these companies, allowing them to showcase their skills and secure potential internship placements.

The main sponsors of the event were Brandix, Bistec Global Services, and Bluechip Technologies Asia. Their support was instrumental in making the career fair a success. Dr. Charith Silva, Professor Bimali Indrarathne, Lieutenant Colonel Wimansha Abeyawickrama, and Mr. Sameera Jayawardena played a pivotal role in preparing students for the event. They conducted several awareness sessions on CV writing and interview techniques, significantly contributing to the overall success of Data Nexus.

Students received internship opportunities on the day of the career fair, while others were called for a second round of interviews, further enhancing their prospects.
