On 6th September 2024, Megha 3:(In)Visible Lines of Creativity in Trilingual Expression, the third publication of the annual creative writing magazine, was launched at FGS auditorium, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). The event was graced by Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), Vice Chancellor of KDU, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Sarath Wijesooriya, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo, as the Guest of Honour.
Annually organised by the Department of Languages, alongside the English Literary Club (ELC), Megha has evolved into a proud tradition at KDU, celebrating the power of literature across three languages. This third anthology, Megha 3, is the product of the third trilingual creative writing competition where both staff and students showcased their creative talents, translating their imagination onto paper.
At the launch, the winners of the latest creative writing competition were awarded certificates and medals in recognition of their outstanding contributions. The event was enriched with a traditional dance performance, live poetry recitations, and an engaging drama performance, performed by the talented students of KDU, bringing the creative expressions in the anthology to life.
Among the distinguished attendees were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration), Major General C. A. Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deans, Directors, and members of the academic and non-academic staff. Students and guests alike revelled in the celebration of literature, marking the day as a significant moment in KDU’s growing literary legacy.
Megha 3 continues to embody the university’s commitment to nurturing creativity and inspiring students and staff to explore the limitless possibilities of language, imagination, and cultural harmony.
