Specific objective/s of the  project:
  1. Raise awareness among the parents about how the project will be implemented
  2. Introduce the project to the members of the eco-club of Holy Cross College, Gampaha. (Via Microsoft Teams)
  3. Maintain social media pages and upload posts on the progress of our project to educate and motivate the community in implementing the mechanisms of recycling.
  4. Organize a series of webinars to educate the students on proper recycling mechanisms.
  5. Arrange a competition to improve the creativity and the innovative thinking on effective recycling mechanisms of the students taking part in the project.
  6. Evaluate the income gained by selling the products created by the students. The products will be sold through an online shop initiated by us
  7. Give certificates to all the participants and prizes to the selected winners.

To educate the children in SOS foster home about various career paths through webinars and facilitate them to apply for the jobs depending on their skills through the job bank.

Specific objective/s of the  project:
  1. Organize a series of webinars on entrepreneurship, career opportunities, and military to educate students in the SOS Foster home. This will help them to take independent decisions regarding their selection of career when they grow up.
  2. Creation of a job bank to facilitate them with the access to get information about the job opportunities.
  3. Arrange a skills development programme to educate them regarding the specific skills necessary to obtain a secured job in the future.
  4. Conduct pre and post-tests to assess the skills profile of each student
  5. Award certificates of participation to the students taking part in the programme

Overall objective of your projectTo educate the people in minimizing polythene and plastic consumption based on the 3R Waste Management system (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle).

Specific objective/s of the  project:
  1. Organize a series of webinars to make the community aware of the 3R waste management system and the eco-bricks concept to reuse polyethene they throw into the environment.
  2. Maintain social media pages and upload posts on the progress of our project to motivate the community in implementing the mechanisms of recycling.
  3. Collect the eco-bricks from the students and hand them over to the recycler.
  4. Award certificates for the students who have taken part in the project.
  5. Hand over flowerpots received by the recycling company to the environmental society of the school to maintain a garden.

  1. Create a series of videos and upload them on social media to minimize the cyber-harassment happening through social media platforms, primarily via Facebook.
  2. Share posts and create groups on social media platforms to promote mutual respect, trust and understanding among the users.
  3. Organize an Art competition to assess the perceptions of the people on the negative impacts of cyber-bullying.
  4. Organize Q and A sessions through social media to provide psychological empowerment to the victims of cyberbullying to stand against their vulnerability.

  2. Organize a competition to select the best performance in various forms of extra-curricular activities (e.g., dancing, singing, drama and painting, etc.) to enhance the target population’s creativity and innovative thinking.
  3. Announce the results of the competitions and give prizes to the winners
  4. Establish a talent club to improve the physical, mental, and well-being of the students taking part in the projects.

  1. Organize a series of zoom sessions to narrate some stories to keep the children entertained and motivate them for the habit of reading.
  2. Arrange zoom sessions to allow the children to talk and present their ideas on what they have gained by listening to the stories.
  3. Organize an art competition where they will be asked to draw out their favourite scene from a book.
  4. Award certificates for the winners of the competition
  5. Donate some books to make a bookshelf

  3. Collect photos and videos to monitor the progress weekly.
  4. Organize a competition to encourage the participants to get engaged in home gardening and enhance organic food consumption that promotes health and well-being.
  5. Give awards and certificates for the winners and participants.

  1. Organize a series of webinars and upload them on social media to educate the people and minimize the body-shaming happening through social media platforms, primarily via Facebook.
  2. Share posts and create groups on social media platforms to promote mutual respect, trust and understanding among the users. Organize Q and A sessions through social media to provide psychological empowerment to the victims of body shaming to stand against their vulnerability.
  3. Create a few video clips on the adverse outcomes of body shaming and upload that to social media.
  4. Contact social media activists, influencers, those interested in voicing against the issue and those who have been body-shamed and share their experience through social media
  5. Sell bookmarks, including messages on putting an end to body shaming to educate the public.

Overall objective of your projectTo raise the awareness among the public about learning difficulties to create a safe learning environment for learners with learning difficulties.

Specific objective/s of the  project:
  1. Organize a series of webinars with the participation of a panel of experts and share them through social media to educate the teachers and parents about learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dysgraphia.
  2. Upload videos and share posts on social media to make the target community aware of creating a supportive learning environment for children with learning difficulties.
  3. Create social media groups via Whatsapp and Facebook to enhance the knowledge of the public on the mechanisms of motivating the students with learning difficulties. In addition, online posters and leaflets on identifying the students with learning difficulties will be shared in the groups to raise awareness.
  4. Create Q/A Sessions for teachers and parents in the Facebook and Instagram community.
  5. Provide answers to the questions given in Q/A sessions through the experts in the field.

To educate and improve the knowledge of the government employees on the basic computer skills. This will help them to provide an efficient and quality service to the general public.

  • No 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
Specific objective/s of the  project:
  1. Organize a series of webinars to educate the government employees on basic computer literacy and train them to create a systematic database.
  2. Create a social media page and upload the videos of our webinars, tutorials and leaflets to educate the public on basic computer skills.
  3. Award certificates of participation to the government employees who have taken part in the project

Active Citizens Programme is a global programme facilitated by the British Council, and it has partners in over 77 countries.  It promotes intercultural-dialogue, citizenship education, the role of youth in social leadership and social development. General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University (KDU) has also become a partner in the successful journey of the Active Citizens Programme since November, 2020. The Active Citizens Programme aims at building potential Active Citizens to carry out Social Action projects to help the community around them to achieve sustainability.
