Eloquence by ELC kickstarts with a workshop on Interview Skills for Social Sciences Undergraduates

Under the guidance of the Department of Languages, the English Literary Club (ELC) of KDU launched a series of workshops, Eloquence by ELC, to improve the English language competency and communication skills of the students of the Social Sciences Department. This venture aims to boost students’ confidence in communicating in English for professional as well as everyday purposes, and it covers diverse topics including interview skills, public speaking, and ethics of communication.

The much-anticipated first workshop of the series was conducted by Ms. Chamila Kothalawala, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Languages on 24th January 2024 at FMSH. The workshop covered five key principles of effective communication for effective performance and making an impression at internship interviews. Sharing over a decade of experience in teaching communication skills and English language, Ms. Kothalawala guided the undergraduates on preparations for a focused self-introduction at their internship interviews. During this interactive session, the undergraduates asked insightful questions through which they learnt about how to face the internship interviews with confidence and ease.
