Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management also known as Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC)

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) offers the Corporate Management module and research methodology module for the Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management also known as Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC). This post graduate diploma administers by Sri Lanka Navy at Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee and the post graduate diploma confers by KDU. The course designed as an initial career course for the junior naval officers. The successful completion of this course positively contributes for their career as naval officers. This course offers thrice per annum and often scheduled to be around March/April, second cycle will be on July/August and the third cycle is on October/ November. There are 25- 39 naval officers in each intake. The corporate management module comprised of several areas of management discipline such as Principles of Management, Strategic management, Organizational behavior, Management ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, Negotiation Skills, Management communication, Grievance settlement, Human Resource Management, Decision Making, Quality Management. KDU staff members of the department renders their fullest support by facilitating resource persons for this course.

 
Diploma course on Port Security

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University collaborated with Port authority to provide a Diploma course on Port Security for senior security personnel. The main purpose of this course is to focus them to energize with field specific competencies that enables them on a smooth career progression through enriching their educational background. This full course consists of many management and leadership related modules with heavy emphasis on Human Resource Management. At present the Department of Management & Finance renders fully fledged support for the Human Resource Management module in the Port Security diploma programme and the rest of the administration coordinated through the Faculty of Defence Studies. This diploma spans for one year and in every annual intake student strength is arround 25- 30 senior security personnel in the port authority.

 
Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management also known as Junior Command and Staff Course (JC&SC)

General Sir John KotelawalaDefence University (KDU) offers the Management module for the Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management also known as Junior Command and Staff Course (JC&SC). This post graduate diploma administers by Sri Lanka Air Force at Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay and the post graduate diploma confers by KDU. The course designed as an initial career course for the junior air force officers. The successful completion of this course positively contributes for their career as air force officers. This course offers thrice per annum and often scheduled to be around February/March, second cycle will be on June/July and the third cycle is on September/October.There are 23-25 air force officers in each intake. The cmanagement module comprised of six main of management discipline such as Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Public Financial Management, Marketing Management, Business statistics and Economics. KDU staff members of the department renders their fullest support by facilitating resource persons for this course.

 
Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC)

Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) is the highest professional specialization course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy for its logistics branch officers. The first and the second semesters of the course consisting of 50 weeks of academic studies commenced on 03rd February 2014 at the Naval & Maritime Academy and terminated on 08th February 2015. The subject modules were conducted by qualified lecturers from the Eastern University and the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). As all the 20 officers, who followed the course, successfully completed the first and second semesters, they are now qualified to proceed with the research component in next consecutive 26 weeks in their respective appointments to secure the master’s degree, MBA in Logistics Management from the KDU.
