On 26th February 2024 the newly enlisted students of Intake 41 of Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH), representing Management and Technical Sciences, Logistics Management, Social Sciences, Applied Data Sciences and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages participated at the orientation program at FMSH 6-2 Lecture hall. The orientation commenced with the opening remarks by the student comperes.
Dean FMSH Dr. Lakshika Liyanage delivered the welcome speech encouraging students to come on-board this new journey with the intellectual family of FMSH. Thereafter, the senior students of intake 40 performed an entertainment item that inspired all in arts, humanities and culture.
Next, the Head of Department (HoD), Department of Languages Lt Col. Wimansha Abeyawickrama delivered his remarks that gave a new paradigm to learning in a military university. Next was the speech by HoD, Department of Social Sciences Dr. Thamara Jayasundara.
FMSH at KDU is blessed with a group of very committed, enthusiastic and inspiring lecturers. They are the pillars of success and are considered a true blessing. FMSH is proud to have lecturers, who are talented not only academically but also excel in the art of performing. A mesmerising staff, musical performance led by Dr. Krishanthi Anandawansa, Senior Lecturer from the Dept. of Languages along with Ms. Chamila Kothalawala, Ms. Thamara Kothalawala and Ms. Tania Weerarathne from the Dept. of Languages, Ms. Dhinesha Perera and Mr. Anju Illangasekara from Dept. of Management and Finance, and Ms. Kumudini Weerasinghe and Ms. Manuri Waleboda from Dept. of Social Sciences was staged at day one of the Orientation. The item rendered a medley of songs in a beautiful fusion of English and Sinhala genres of music.
Thereafter Ms. Dushanthi Lokuge HoD, Department of Management and Finance delivered her speech explaining the importance of undergraduate learning, qualities of undergraduates and the graduates attributes. With that the concluding remarks were made by the student comperes.
Finally, the students were divided into 30 groups, guided by one academic staff member and 5 senior students of Intake 40 per group. Thereafter, the students were given a briefing by the library, enlistment division, examination division, Center for Information Technology Support and Developmental Services, Bursar office, AR office of FMSH and MI room. This concluded day one of the orientation program for Intake 41 of FMSH.
