The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of KDU launched the KDU Entrepreneurship Club on April 2nd, 2024, at the FSG Building. This club will be established under the Entrepreneurship Cell of CGU and will operate as its main component. The introduction of this club has several objectives, such as:
- Foster Entrepreneurial Mindset: Providing hands-on experience, mentorship, and real-world challenges to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset in undergraduates.
- Entrepreneurial Skills Focus: Developing essential entrepreneurial skills required by the corporate sector to tackle future challenges.
- Enhance Sustainability Focus: Integrating sustainability principles into education to prepare students to create businesses prioritizing sustainability and benefiting society.
The club will be managed by the executive committee under the supervision of Dr. Kalpana Ambepitiya, the Director of the Career Guidance Unit. Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Retired Major General DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration); Prof. KAS Dhammika, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic); and Dr. Lankshika Liyanage, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities, were the Guests of Honor. Dr. Nirmal De Silva was invited as the Guest Speaker to emphasize the importance of fostering entrepreneurship within universities.
