Second Day of the Student Orientation of FMSH: An Extravagant Sports & Student Variety Show by Intake 41 Students

Faculty of Management, Social Sciences & Humanities (FMSH) conducted the sports and variety show for the Intake 41 students. The students of the newly enlisted Intake 41 enthusiastically participated in sports such as Netball, cricket, & volley ball organized at netball court, the football ground & Gymnasium respectively. In this endeavor, the senior students of Intake 40 actively participated by organizing food and beverage stalls for the benefit of the students and staff who participated.

The sports teams consisted of students from Management and Technical Sciences, Logistics Management, Social Sciences, Applied Data Sciences & Teaching English for Speakers of other Languages in Intake 41. Interestingly, the Netball and cricket tournaments were won by the team of the Department of Languages and the volleyball tournament was won by Department of Social Sciences. However, the other departments also gave a strong battle in wining and emerging to the finals.

After the tiresome events of sports the variety entertainment segment commenced from 2pm onwards at the Football grounds. With a captivating lineup of performances showcasing the rich tapestry of diversity within the student body, the evening was a testament to the spirit of unity and celebration that defines the academic community.

The festivities commenced by 4 student comparers Sandeep De Silva, Gemini Gamanayake, Hussein Ziyard, Giwanthi Lakshadi Bandarwith and a dazzling display of dance performances by Intake 39, setting the stage alight with their energy and passion. From traditional to contemporary, the choreography mesmerized the audience, transcending boundaries and forging connections through the universal language of movement.

As the rhythm of the music reverberated through the air, the audience was treated to a mélange of Hindi, Sinhala, and English performances, each imbued with its own unique charm and flair.

A highlight of the evening was the captivating performances by the Day Scholars and Cadets, who took center stage with their infectious enthusiasm and impeccable skills. From mesmerizing dance routines to soulful musical performances, their talent illuminated the stage, leaving an indelible impression on all in attendance.

Adding a touch of gravitas to the proceedings, Lieutenant Colonel Wimansha Abeyawickrama, Head of Department (Languages), delivered a stirring speech, emphasizing the importance of embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity within the academic community. His words resonated deeply, serving as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of unity and collaboration.

As the evening drew to a close, a heartfelt vote of thanks echoed across the grounds, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
