[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University held its 13th International Research Conference under the theme “Holistic Approach to National Growth and Security” on the 15th and 16th of October 2020. The inauguration ceremony, as traditionally held every year, was held on the 15th of October 2020 and was graced by the presence of Hon. Prof. GL Peiris, Minister of Education, as the chief guest and Prof. Kapila Perera, Secretary-Ministry of Education, as the keynote speaker.
The Plenary session of FMSH was successfully held on the first day under the theme “National Growth and Security towards Social and Human Capital Development”. The session was intellectually cumulated by management discipline which included human resources, logistics, and social sciences and humanities. An array of well-established eminent professors, renounced scholars and practitioners of their respective fields; Professor Harshana Rambukwella, Dr. Vagisha Gunasekara, Mr. D. Upali De Soyza and Professor Jill Atkins, addressed the unique gathering of discussants, academics and research students who joined via physical and online platforms. The chairperson for this session was Professor Sanath Dhammika. Moreover, the poster presentations were displayed via online platform after the Plenary session.
On the 16th of October 2020, the Technical sessions of FMSH unfolded four Management and Finance sessions in parallel with four Social Sciences and Humanities sessions which were held during the time slots; 0830-1000 hrs, 1030-1200 hrs, 1300-1430 hrs and 1500-1615 hrs. The Chairpersons for the four Management and Finance sessions were Dr. Sampath Fernando, Dr. Renuka Herath, Dr. CW Chathurani Silva and Prof. Wasantha Perera respectively. Simulataneously the Chairpersons for the Social Sciences and Humanities sessions were Dr. MTM Mahees, Dr. Pradeep Peiris, Dr. Chandana Dissanayake and Senior Prof. Marie ES Perera. As witnessed by all participants and discussants, the FMSH had intellectually stimulating and insight-driven discussions and feedbacks. Correspondingly, the chairpersons provided the scholars and practitioners with ideas and insights to develop their research work in the future.
