
The Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) stands as one of the oldest and most dynamic faculties of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. It is also the largest in terms of student population, proudly serving a vibrant community of tri-service officer cadets and civilian day scholars.
Comprising three academic departments—Management and Finance, Social Sciences, and Languages—the Faculty currently offers eleven cutting-edge undergraduate degree programmes, including:

The Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) is one of the oldest faculties of the University (KDU), and it consists of three academic departments, namely the Department of Management and Finance, the Department of Social Sciences and the Department of Languages.
The Faculty currently offers three degree programmes, i.e. BSc in Logistics Management, BSc in Management and Technical Sciences and BSc in Social Sciences for both tri-service officer cadets and civil day scholars, and it is planning to introduce a BA degree in Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and several other diploma and certificate courses in English, Tamil, Mandarin etc. We will also offer a part time BSc in Management degree facilitating you to qualify with a valuable degree while being employed.
FMSH possesses a well-qualified and committed academic staff, a nice blend of experienced academicians with young and energetic ones working together planning and implementing course curricula in their degree programmes and contributing to research and innovation in their respective disciplines.
FMSH also plays a key role in providing assistance to other Faculties of KDU and to Affiliated Military institutes such as Defence Services Command and Staff College, Naval and Maritime Academy, Army Logistics School etc. The Faculty provides through its Department of Languages the requirements of English, Sinhala and Tamil language courses and Communication Skills courses for the other Faculties of KDU. It provides its assistance for coordinating and conducting post graduate programmes such as MBA in Logistics Management, MSc in Management, MSc in Disaster Risk Reduction and Development programmes and serving as research supervisors and examiners.
