The Pitching Research Competition held on the 5th of December 2024 at FMH 6-2 brought together bright minds from diverse disciplines to present innovative research addressing real-world challenges.
The competition featured nine teams, with Team PRC9 emerging as the winners for their impactful research titled “Bridging the Gap Between University Curriculum and Supply Chain and Logistics Industry Needs in Sri Lanka.” The team, comprising PAJK Gunawardena, MWAK Abomba Alyempe, GKS Costa, CA Galewelage, and DSF De Silva, impressed the judges with their practical approach to aligning education with industry demands.
Team PRC3 secured second place with their research on “Effectiveness of E-Commerce on the Success of SMEs B2B Platform in the Clothing Industry, Sri Lanka.” The team included GLS Priyashan, WGLD Aththanayaka, HMKB Hulangamuwa, MDIA Samarawickrama, and RGMDZ Samarasekara. Their work highlighted the transformative potential of digital platforms for small and medium enterprises.
Team PRC2 claimed third place with their study on “Re-Positioning of Organizations on Sustainable Concepts Enhancing Customer-Focused Value Proposition.” This team comprised DPVK Ananda, UWSN Bandara, HMVS Thennakoon, IAHH Karunathilaka, and DI Hansani. Their research underscored the importance of sustainability in modern business practices.
The event, judged by Senior Professor Athula Manawaduge and Senior Professor Wasantha Perera, provided an excellent platform for young researchers to showcase their ideas and receive valuable feedback. It was a celebration of creativity, academic rigor, and practical problem-solving, leaving participants and attendees inspired to contribute meaningfully to society. The comperer for the day was Yesanga Haresinghe (intake 41- SS) & trained by Dr. Dhinesha Perera
